The Water Adaptation Community

We produced and edited three videos for the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference with The Water Adaptation Community. The videos were shown to delegates and world leaders at the conference to raise awareness of water related climate disaster and guide them in how they can take action.

Video 1 - Mainstreaming Water Adaptation

Mainstreaming water adaptation refers to the integration of adaptation measures to address water-related challenges into policies, plans, and programs across different sectors and levels of governance. The goal is to make water adaptation a standard practice that is integrated into decision-making processes and implemented systematically.

Video 2 - Hotspots

Climate change means increasing pressure on the Earth’s system and human societies. The pressures are and will be severe and provide a cocktail of risks for people and societies and threaten livelihoods and life-supporting systems. A landscape approach is necessary - in contrast to addressing issues separately - as multiple climate related challenges interrelate in one place (droughts, floods, heatwaves, pollution etc.).

Video 3 - Communities of Practice

The WAC Community of Practice are essentially topical umbrellas that link to existing networks, projects and communities of practice all over the globe. The WAC facilitator works with each Community of Practice to continuously identify the most pressing questions and adaptation issues, and then the WAC supports their cross-learning, and knowledge brokering. The WAC invites members to take part in exchanges, webinars, e-learning and writing up their own stories and blogs.
